League of Friends, Royal London Homeopathic Hospital Help Save NHS Homeopathy

Welcome

Since Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) suddenly cancelled or reduced their contracts for the hospital’s services last year, placing its viability under threat, a vigorous, patient led fight back has begun. As a centre for excellence in homeopathy and CAM therapies, the RLHH treats patients from all over the country and plays a vital role in their quality of life and recovery.

While the League of Friends is aware that there is a need for economies in the cash strapped NHS, doing this without regard to patients’ needs and rights is far from satisfactory.

We are aware that some PCTs have stopped patients’ treatment in mid-flow and many are putting this down to the fact that homeopathy is “unproven”. We would strongly disagree with this opinion as a great deal of evidence exists to prove that homeopathy is an effective treatment.

The badly flawed paper that appeared in The Lancet has been used as an excuse to stop contracts. We would invite you to read Dr Peter Fisher’s response and assessment on the appropriate link. Furthermore, using this excuse completely ignores all the other therapies on offer at the hospital which bring relief to patients who have, for the most part, been suffering from health problems that have not responded to conventional treatment.
Treatment at the hospital is very cost effective to the NHS in this regard.
There is an outcry against the cuts and patients are mobilising and forming groups to protest and campaign against the sudden cessation of their treatment.
